The drum corps of Strathclyde Police Pipe Band comes under the steady leadership of Drum Sergeant Eric Ward. Since his appointment to the band in 1995, Eric has successfully elevated the drum corps' status to that of regular contenders for top drumming awards.

The drum corps' scores are constructed and played to Eric's distinctive style combined with an element of Alex Duthart's influence in places.

An integral part of the band is the bass section, which is no stranger to success having won numerous best bass section titles at the Scottish Championships, Cowal Highland Gathering and World Championships. Dynamic use of voiced tenor rhythms and visually effective flourishing movements have become a trade mark of the band.
